Because you are reading this page we know that you are on the Internet and we have some ideas that we want to share with you. Whether or not you decide to work with Adoption Center of Illinois and Family Resource Center, we strongly recommend that if you are considering placing a child for adoption that you work with an agency that is licensed and located in Illinois. You will find that on the Internet there are many adoption agencies who will offer to provide services to you, but, many of these places are not located in Illinois. The following are some questions we suggest you should ask:
- Where are you located?
- Are you licensed in Illinois?
- Where is your main office in Illinois?
- If I wanted to, could I visit your office?
- For how many years have you been offering adoption services to birth parents in this area?
At the Adoption Center of Illinois and Family Resource Center we believe that everyone we work with has the right to question absolutely everything and we also believe that every question deserves an answer. The decision to place a child for adoption is perhaps the most important decision a mother or father will ever make. Obviously it is a major life decision that will resonate with the child, the adoptive parents and birth parents throughout the rest of their lives. We respect your right to decide who you want to work with. Maybe an agency located out-of-state is the best choice for you – but – you owe it to yourself to understand the difference between working with agency that is local and one that is far away. If an out-of-state adoption agency is not “up front” with you from the very beginning about where they are located, we recommend that you ask yourself why? Sometimes adoption counselors are aware of possibilities that you may not have considered. We respect and understand that it is up to birth parents to decide whether or not to place a child for adoption. And our counselors are available 24 hours a day to answer any questions you have adoption. If you are long for straight answers and people who are willing to discuss everything you have come to the right place.
