This is the 2nd part of a two-part article, authored by ACI’s Richard Pearlman, LCSW. It was published in the April issue of Adoption Today Magazine. You can find this article [Part 2 pdf] here
For more than two decades, Richard has been thinking about the paradigms that govern how people think about and practice adoption. Along with Jane Turner, ACI’s executive director, Richard has been developing a new paradigm for understanding adoption that moves the practice of adoption beyond “openness.” In Part 2 of the article Richard discusses a new adoption paradigm and its implications for professionals and people whose lives are touched by adoption.
